History The history of the Ragdoll cat begins in 1965 in Riverside, California, more precisely in the home of Mrs. Anne Baker who, by crossing her cat, perhaps of the Angora breed, with a Colourpoint or Burmese cat, obtained the 3 breed progenitors of the Ragdoll: Daddy Warbucks, progenitor of the Mitted variety; Buckwheat, which started the Colourpoint variety; Fugianna, a bicolor female. It was only 10 years later, in 1975, that Mrs. Baker was able to officially patent the new breed born in the “Raggedy Ann” Ragdolls kennel. The first specimens were purchased by the Dayton couple, who were responsible for the effective spread of this breed throughout the world. General Appearance It is one of the breeds with the most impressive appearance and size. The distinctive sign of these cats is the blue color of their large oval and slanted eyes, which give them an angelic and intriguing expression. The head is large and slightly triangular, the features gentle and rounded. The legs are massive and muscular; hind legs are longer than front ones. The coat is a splendid colourpoint which forms the so-called 'ruff' around the neck, a collar of thick and fluffy fur. The presence of a white inverted 'V' placed right between the eyes is one of the signs of the purity of the breed.
