Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. History: In 1955 a biology experiment took place in the former Czechoslovakian Republic: the crossing between a German Shepherd and a Carpathian Wolfdog. The experiment demonstrated that it was possible to breed both the mating offspring of a male dog and a female wolf and that of a female dog and a male wolf. Most results of this mating possessed the genetic requirements for continuing the breeding. In 1965, after the end of the experiment, a plan for breeding this new dog breed was drawn up. The aim was to combine some skills of the wolf with the positive qualities of the dog. In 1982 the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog was recognized as a national breed by the General Council of the Breeders' Association of the Czechoslovak Republic of that time.
