Miniature Schnauzer. History: The Schnauzer was originally used in southern Germany as a stable dog, also because it felt perfectly at ease in the company of horses. Full of zeal, he spied on rodents and killed them in the blink of an eye, which earned him, in common parlance, the nickname of "mouse dog". At the time the Pinscher and Schnauzer club was founded in 1895, it still bore the name Wirehaired Pinscher. General Appearance: Small, robust, wire-haired dog. Its typical characteristics are the lively temperament, combined with calm, caution, a good disposition, cheerfulness, and the proverbial devotion to its owner. It loves children very much. It has highly developed sense organs, its intelligence, adaptability to training, courage, tenacity and resistance to bad weather and disease make the Schnauzer meet all the requirements for being an exceptional member of the family, a guard as well as a companion and even a working dog.
