The nature of the dachshund has all the funda-
Bassotto Tedesco mental characteristics for a hunting dog: it is
faithful and obedient to its owner, but at the
same time independent, reactive and coura-
geous, all of these characteristics that allow it to
better tackle hunting trips. The Dachshund by
nature, therefore, becomes attached to his mas-
ter but does not look for him in a morbid way
and tends to carve out spaces for freedom.
The Dachshund looks like a dog with short and
elongated limbs. Overall he is compact, mus-
cular but graceful and light in movement.
For decades it has been bred in three different
sizes and in three different types of hair.
Important proportions:
- The distance of the breastbone from the
ground is about 1/3 of the height at the withers.
- The ratio of body length: height at the withers
is approximately 1: 1.7-1.8.
Bichon Havaianas
The Bichon Havaianas is a dog who loves to travel,
discover new things and above all always be with his
family. Cheerful and lively, he is a great playful both
with other animals and with the children he is in love
with.
The Bichon Havaianas is a cheerful and lively com-
panion dog, not very suspicious of strangers with
whom he is immediately at ease. Also suitable for the
company of the little ones, the breed is affectionate
and very festive.
The Bichon Havanais is a rather sturdy small dog that
is long rather than tall. It has short limbs and abun-
dant and soft wavy hair that covers the whole body.
The origins of the Bichon Havanais are somewhat
controversial. More certain information establishes the
origin of the dog on the Spanish and Italian coasts,
from here it was boarded on ships for the island of
Cuba. Mistakenly, the name and color lead one to be-
lieve that it is originally from Havana. From Cuba
today the dog has almost completely disappeared,
some smuggled specimens survive today in the
United States.
